About China Pakistan Economic Corridor CPEC
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a 300 km Chinese infrastructure network project undertaken in Pakistan. This sea-and-land-based corridor is aimed to secure and reduce the passage for china’s energy imports from the middle eastern countries by avoiding the existing route from the straits of Malacca between Malaysia and Indonesia, which in case of war could be blocked and thus hampering the Chinese energy department economical avenues. The mission of CPEC is to secure energy import and trade boost for the china infrastructure development of Pakistan. CPEC starts from Xinjiang China and enters Pakistan from Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh, and Azad Kashmir. CPEC is established on 20 April 2015 funded by the China Development Bank, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Silk Road Fund Exim Bank of China, and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. The major projects of CPEC are Gwadar Port, East Bay Expressway, Pak China Friendship Hospital, Pak china Technical Vocational Institute and China Pakistan Economic Corridor Support Project. CPEC works under the Planning Division, Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiative and Mr. Ashan Iqbal Is the Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiative of Pakistan.
