About CSS Federal Public Service Commission
The Constitution of Pakistan doesn’t define the official name of the civil service. There is no official name for the service “Central Superior Services of Pakistan” (or CSS). The constitution allows the appointed officer of the government as chairman of the Federal Public Service Commission of Pakistan to decide on the name. The name “CSS” emerged during the first examination for civil service in order to make appointments to positions at the officer entry level within the occupational group that is the entirety of Pakistan. The Public Service Commission was set for the first time by British India in 1926. After Pakistan’s independence in 1947, the Commission was created in Pakistan 1947.
